About lululuathome.com
“lululu” has been my nickname since the age of ICQ. In case you have not heard about ICQ. I could probably be your grandma.
Why I picked lululu? I HAVE NO IDEA! Probably I love how chic it sounds and looks (Just the way it appears on the head banner icon).
This blog, created in 2007, basically records what I do the most when I’m at home – being a cook and a mom. I simply love the countless unexpected possibilities and satisfactions these jobs bring to me. And if you think the radio station and movie distribution jobs that I did before should be pretty entertaining and inspirational? I can tell you, yes, they were, but the level is not even close to what I’m experiencing now.
About being a cook……
I didn’t cook much until a couple years ago when I moved away from Hong Kong, got married and settled down here in Vancouver. Being away from the hectic city life in Hong Kong and having work/personal life balance here has allowed me to explore and develop my passion of home-cooking.
It’s my own curiosity in the kitchen that has shaped my cooking. My principle of cooking is simplicity. I can never stay my eyes on a dissertation-like recipe though it might come up with divine food. I make things simple enough so that anyone can follow. And I never go crazy with the weird ingredients.
About being a mom……
I’m loving every second of being a proud mom to Ethan, my first born with my husband, a caring geek named Matthew.
Before Ethan came along, I didn’t realize such a tiny creature could do that much to my privacy (He has to be in the bathroom with me and witness what comes out from my so-called private part whenever I need to go), my dignity (Imagine he uses his five not even fully-grown teeth to pull my shirt, and so my bra exposes in a very busy restaurant), my intelligent (Running unending rounds of feeding, diapering and bathing can be very mind-numbing for me who accustoms to completing project in no time)……Most importantly, I wasn’t prepared to what he would do to my capacity of love and worry.
The letters I write to Ethan in this blog chronicles the distress and joyous ride we share. They also unfold the learning process of my being a mom though I will never know if I’ve done a good job. One marvelous mystery of parenting is that with so much time, money, hope and love poured into one little creature, you won’t really know what sort of people you’ve helped to create until he’s 20 or 30.
About blogging……
Blogging has given me a chance to meet a diverse group of people with same passion. These completely strangers keep generously feeding me with tons of encouragement, compliments and warmth. And that’s the beauty of blogging. Please keep it going by leaving me comments or contacting me at fanny@lululuathome.com. I love being fed like that!
